Schaefer Professorship offers an annual award "to a distinguished scholar who is visiting the University or to a permanent professor here.

Schaefer Lecture Series bring from off-campus a distinguished scholar to give one or more lectures and otherwise interact with the academic community on a topic or topics of wide interest.

Powrie V. Doctor Chair of Deaf Studies brings persons to campus who will contribute to the intellectual and/or creative life of the University and the deaf community, and who in turn can benefit from its unique human and material resources. Although this award is not available to Gallaudet faculty or staff, they may nominate candidates for the award.
