Psychotherapy with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals

The proposed study, Psychotherapy with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals: Perceptions of the Consumer, examines the experiences and perceptions of deaf and hard of hearing individuals who have been in psychotherapy. What specific considerations are necessary for effective psychotherapy with this population? What are the specific culturally synotic techniques and processes that are essential for effective psychotherapy? The intent of this study is to ascertain beneficial processes of therapy inclusive of intervention techniques, structure of treatment and or qualities of the therapy relationship that contribute to successful treatment.
